For good measure, and to make sure your weekend has the right amount of groove, let your Saturdays be Soulful with a special rotating lineup of some KC’s finest.
Amber Underwood – February 1
Over several years, Amber has been a enlighten presence in the historical Kansas City jazz scene making a voice for her beautiful compositions. Not only a classical trained scholar but a well verse educator of music. Amber been featured at many venues throughout the country include in her hometown Blue Room, Broadway Jazz, The Phoenix, The Green Lady, GEM theater, and Kill Devil Club, Amber is currently recording her well anticipate album due for Summer 2017 recorded with a wide range of musical luminaries.
Havilah Bruders – February 8
Havilah is a versatile vocal performer from the Kansas City area. She has done numerous jazz, blues, classical, folk and bluegrass performances at venues and festivals throughout the Metro Area. Havilah’s voice is warm and sultry in her low range but also soars high to make a sweet or powerful statement.
Stan Kessler – February 15
Trumpeter, Composer, Bandleader and Educator – a veteran on the Kansas City music scene, Stan Kessler has recorded with Karrin Allyson, Max Groove, Musa Nova, Trilogy Big Band, Kansas City Spirit Orchestra, The Sons of Brasil, and Angela Hagenbach among others.
Gayle Cade-Price February 22
Gayle Price has distinguished herself as a musician with great versatility, control and insight. As the youngest daughter of the “Original Rock & Roll Mama” and local blues and jazz performer the late Priscilla Bowman, she has the same compassion of touching people’s spirit that exudes style, class, and uniqueness.
Max Levy – February 29
Max Levy leads his own group that performs a variety of originals and straight-ahead jazz music. They have been featured throughout the United States from the east coast to the midwest. Max can also be seen playing with other prominent ensembles including The Sextet, Hard@Play, Son Venezuela, musical pit orchestras, and countless others. Max currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri where he works throughout the region performing at various music venues. He has studied and worked with such legendary saxophonists as Bobby Watson, Dan Thomas, Dr. Frank Bongiorno, Benton Hill, and Rob Holmes of the Navy Jazz Commodores.
Kansas City Jazz Nights
Jazz up your weekend with the sweet sound of Kansas City each and every Saturday night at Reserve, the chic and welcoming restaurant and lounge located in the swank Ambassador Hotel in the downtown Power & Light District. Experience some of Kansas City’s best jazz musicians as they spice up your night with their infectious grooves and pitch-perfect melodies to go with the delicious culinary delights and cocktails at Reserve.
Feel Good Fridays
Get that Feel Good Friday feeling each and every Friday night from 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. at the Reserve Restaurant located in the swank and cozy Ambassador Hotel Kansas City. Experience the sweet melodies of crooner Ron Gutierrez and his trio of talented musicians who play the best in soul, R&B, and jazz ballads. Song requests are welcome, so come prepared with that special tune you’d like to hear.
